In this role, the Director of Development will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with current stakeholders and potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the Director will collaborate with the Development Coordinator and the Executive Director and the Board to move L’Arche St. Louis to its financial goals.

We’re looking for someone who believes in the mission of L’Arche St. Louis and has exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategizing and delivering on new ones.
Objectives of this Role
Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work
Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
Spot new fundraising opportunities
Lead a small team with initiatives outlined in the Development Plan to meet financial goals
Form strong relationships with external stakeholders
Steward and collaborate with major donors through regular communication
Responsibilities
Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors
Work closely with the Executive Director to deepen relationships with current donors
Work with CRM to run reports and regularly communicate data and progress to the Board of Directors
Research individuals, corporations, and foundations
Write grant applications and fundraising proposals
Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
Organize fundraising events while overseeing teams of volunteers
Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met
Required Skills and Qualifications
At least three years of experience in fundraising with a non-profit
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
Proven ability to secure major donor gifts of $50,000 and above
Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers
Strong attention to detail
Passion for creating a world where people with disabilities have the opportunity to live their best lives
Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning major fundraising events
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, marketing, business, nonprofit management, or related field
Competence with donor management systems
Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters
Confidence in public speaking
Capital campaign experience preferred
